To all,
This is a blog I'm writing to just to keep people who might possibly be interested (ie. my immediate family and work procrastinators!) updated with news about my wanderings around southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand (and hopefully Fiji- still desperately working on that one!). I use the term wanderings as I feel 'travels' is a word that denotes too great a capacity for organisation to describe my trip!
Briefly, the plan is: Hong Kong for a few days, after which we'll fly to Hanoi in Vietnam, and by plane/bus/train make our way down the coast to the Mekong Delta. Then its across to Cambodia - the capital Phnom Penh and the Angkor temples, followed by a flight to Bangkok, train up to the north (Chiang Mai etc), then down to the islands in the south. Depending on time we'll either train it or plane it to Kualar Lumpur then on to Singapore. There awaits us a flight to Sydney and connection to Cairns at the north of the east coast. Kath and I are going on a sailing trip around the Whitsunday islands and a 4 wheel drive excursion on Fraser Island while travelling down the coast to Sydney. At this point we hope to fit in a week in Fiji, before going on to New Zealand and driving round in a van for a few weeks!
SO, as my leaving date's TOMORROW I'm currently sat bricking it, particularly as I have to fly to Hong Kong alone via Singapore which is taking 25 hours. However, the doctor smiled on me and has provided me with a sedative to combat my less than joyful attitude to flying.
Buckle up and sit tight as they say.....more from Singapore airport!
